I want to place an area rug under at least part if the bed but i think the dresser will be in the way.
Carpet size under queen bed.
Hi my bedroom is 12x16 with a queen size bed against a 12ft wall.
This configuration would take up more space than a single 9x12 rug which could be useful in some circumstances see below.
A 12 foot by 15 foot rug will look balanced under the longer california king size bed and this size area rug will even fit under nightstands.
The general rule for placement of rugs under beds is that a rug should extend 12 to 18 inches from the sides and foot of the bed 12 inches for a twin or full bed and 18 inches for a queen or king bed.
You ll have to place the rug under the bed 6 inches from the head.
A dresser is on the left wall towards bottom of bed and a chest of drawers is on the right wall completely clear of bed.
If you find a pair of rugs you like in this size you can place two 4x6 rugs under a queen bed.
An 8 foot by 10 foot or a 9 foot by 12 foot area rug will fit the bottom two thirds of a queen size or king size bed but not the nightstands.
Frame your bed with this popular option which doesn t quite extend up to your nightstands but still allows for 18 24 of room on the sides and past the foot of the bed.
For a symmetrical finish an 8x10 rug is best for queen beds and a 9x12 for king.
If the room is large the rug should extend even further out from the bed but it should never extend out less.
See that it extends at the bottom the same length as on the sides.
Runners on each side.
The standard for an area rug of this approximate size is 8 feet wide by 10 feet long.
Area rugs can be layered over wood floors tile broadloom wall to wall carpet and even other area rugs.
Generally an area rug that is 4 feet wide by 6 feet long is too small to place under a queen bed.
If you re working with a large master bedroom consider a rug size large enough to fit your bed and both nightstands when it s placed perpendicular to them.
For a larger room an 8 by 10 foot rug is the perfect size to accommodate a king or queen size bed and end tables.
That is the longer length should run centered on the bed from bedside table to bedside table with the shorter width of the rug starting from in front of the bedside tables and running at.
Depending upon the size of the room there can be more rug extension around the bed as seen in this room by lauren nelson design but not less.
Using a standard size rug it would extend on either side 2 1 2 feet and 18 inches at the foot.
But the key is to find the right area rug in the right size because an area rug that is the wrong size has the opposite effect that you want it actually takes style away from the room.
For a full or queen size bed you can use a 5 8 6 9 or 8 10 rug beneath the bed placed longways depending on how much floor space you want covered.
For an area rug to look balanced under a bed it should be large enough to extend beyond the sides of the bed at least 18 inches for a king or queen bed and at least 12 inches for a full or twin bed.
