Some of them are solid black some of them have patterns some are more whitish some more greenish. Carpet beetles are hard to control because they tend to disperse throughout the house.

Grown carpet beetles can survive both outdoors and indoors but the female beetles usually prefer laying their eggs in places where there is an abundance of larval food sources. But they are round to oval in shape and they are very tiny. However traps kill only adults and are useless against eggs. That is why sticky traps like jf moth beetle traps are the first thing to do when you have a carpet beetle infestation.

As previously indicated carpet beetles consume natural fibers for food. Carpet beetle larvae might end up eating milled products from the kitchen or pantry animal food and seeds.
